Preschool started!

Your preschool finally started on November 13th!

At first, you didn’t know what is going to happen so first 2 days, you were so excited to go to school. Mama thought “Oh wow, it was such a piece of cake!” because I thought you were going to cry as soon as I leave. But … the crying started when you learned “school” is somewhere Mama and Papa won’t be with you. So as soon as you figured out, you refused to go to school. Crying a lot at the beginning. Mrs. Ann took care of you so well that she said you were getting used to it.

But after a week, you got some germs from kids at school and you got cold. A lot of runny noses, sneazing, and coughing. And I got it from you and Papa got it from you after all. Luckily, we had Thanksgiving weekend was coming up so you took the Wednesday off and we were hoping you will be better by Monday. However, the cold was persistent. You still coughed with a runny nose on Monday so finally, you went back to school next day, Tuesday. (Btw, I love how you say “Medicine”. You say “Mecident”. So cute! ❤ )

So you haven’t gone to school for about a week and now you have to get used to your school again. Again, you cry a lot at the beginning but now once I leave you at school, Mrs. Ann told me that you stop crying and start the class with the other kids fine. Making friends or having friends is a different story though. I think it will take some time to get used to everything so one by one.

Also, Mrs. Ann told me that you do so well in the class. She asks you to bring your work and ask Mrs. Ann for checking your work by saying “Check (my work) please!” and you do it! She also said you are a very intelligent boy. 🙂 I’m so proud of you!!

I know it will take some time but I know you will be fine at the school. There are great teachers there and I completely trust them.

My project to think about is how to make you think your school is fun. We always sing a song or two in the car while we are driving to school like “Boon Ba Bong”, “Totoro” and “Ebi and Shrimp Mix” songs. And right now we can see Santa Claus on our street so we always drive by and say Hello. What else can I do to make you feel comfortable?
You always look worried on your face like “where is Mama taking me?” face. I sometimes try to switch the route but of course, we always end up to be in the same location so you cry anyway. I wish I know how to change your mind…

Much Love,
Yuko

Happy 2! Day 2

Luca: 24 months old

We finally got to take you out to Los Angeles Zoo! We always talk about a BIIIIIIG giraffe or an elephant or a funny monkey or a scary wolf but you have never seen them before and we didn’t have a chance to take you there so Papa and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to go to the Zoo.

I am not sure how much you understood what was going on or what they were or if they overwhelmed you or made you excited but you seemed like you were mesmerized when you finally saw huge elephants and some tall giraffes.

It was actually my first time to walk around the Zoo as well and it was so much fun! … And hot… 🙂 We didn’t realize the Zoo was a big place to walk around. Mentally, Papa and I weren’t prepared for the big walk, we just focused on the major animals that we think you know and we skipped the other minor animals… Sorry Luca. Let’s go next time and stay longer! (And your Papa’s heart condition wasn’t that good on this week so we had to take it easy…)

I hope you had a fun time!!

Much Love,
Your Mama
