Sleeping habit #5

A baby with a dog
Luca lies down with Happy
Luca: 23 weeks old

Tonight, Luca kinda showed me that he didn’t want to be fed before the bed time. I tried to feed a bottle (he drank 1oz), and both side of my breast. He cried as usual and spitted up most of it. He had 3 tbl spoon of soupy rice before the bath as well so I guess he was super full.

Now, I use my breastfeeding as a weapon at night time so then he usually falls in sleep but I guess not tonight… What to do what to do…

I put him on my bed, lied down with him and started to sing the same song “Kira Kira Boshi (twinkle twinkle little star)”. He started to be calm and quiet. AND he fell in sleep with MY song!! Wow you can’t imagine how happy I was that happened!! It took me about 4-5 loops of same song over and over but I guess he likes my singing!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ I used to hate Karaoke because people used to tell me I was off key. So I stopped singing in public. But I would do anything for my baby and he appreciates it. Awww I love you so much, Luca! πŸ˜„

So far, he woke up once at 9pm. Frankie put him to sleep and since then he is sleeping like an angel. πŸ‘ΌπŸ»πŸ‘ΌπŸ»πŸ‘ΌπŸ»  Frankie is super good at putting him sleep! πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻

I pumped and now I’m good to sleep.

As usual, hopefully he will sleep till 2 am or even longer!

Oh btw, he got red cheeks all the sudden since this afternoon. Frankie suspects the tofu I gave Luca yesterday. He had more than usual (3 tbl spoon) and his body is finally reacting to it or something. It’s sad to know he might allergic to soy. πŸ˜• Let’s see for a couple days if his red cheeks would be gone or not…

Good night!

[Update] it didn’t go well as I expected it. Luca woke up twice before midnight, he woke up again twice before 6am. When it’s a good day, he sleeps till 7am and I was hoping for that today but it didn’t happen. Boy, I am tired already (7am). πŸ˜•

Love you very much, Luca!

Sleeping Habit #4

Luca: 23 weeks old

Today was Happy’s birthday (14 yrs old) and I stopped by Petco to get his birthday gift.

I came back home around 620pm (I should’ve gone there from work not going back home first) and finally fed Luca solid food around 7pm. I didn’t get to play with him long enough after the meal and his bed time already came along.

He was still full energy by the time I finished the ritual. He was wide awake after the breastfeeding and wanted to talk more, play with gargling sound and touching my face.

I even sang “Kira Kira Boshi (twinkle twinkle little star)” a few times. He listened and gave me a smile. I was expecting he would fall in sleep with this song but too bad it didn’t work out. Maybe I’m such a tone deaf that he can’t sleep… Lol (but he smiled at me when I sang. That made me so happyπŸ’•β€οΈπŸ’•)

Frankie suggested me to put him on the floor and let him play a little. He even crawled in full speed for a few times! I thought that would tire him out but it didn’t.

After all that our effort, of course he had to cry loud in his crib. Cry > picking him out + sooth him > crib > cry > pick + sooth > crib > and it goes on for about 15 min. Finally he fell in sleep not in his crib but on my bed. Frankie moved him in his crib after that.

Now it has been 30 min (almost 10pm). Probably he will wake up in 30 min or so and the another battle will start again as usual. Not fun at all but it doesn’t last longer than 1130pm so let’s hope and pray same thing will happen tonight as well.

Should I go to sleep now or wait till the battle is over…?

Good night.

[Update] Luca made a sound for a few seconds later he fell back in sleep again. That was 1030pm. And woke up around 2am. I fed him and put him back to his crib. That was it. He had a good night sleep until 630am. Yay!

Much love, your mama

Sleeping Habit #3

Luca: 23 weeks old

Another long night…

Tonight Luca slept pretty well again until 1015pm (from 730pm). Now I’m struggling again to put him in sleep. I’m doing cto method, letting him cry for 3 min and holding him and sooth him if he doesn’t stop cry and I repeat the steps over and over. It’s 1137pm right now. After rocking him in my arms for several min and bouncing him for over 10 min, walking around and bouncing him again on the bouncing ball for another 10 min, finally he fell in sleep!! I feel a victory here. Lol

I want to train him to fall in sleep without my feeding eventually. And I think I am doing it!

I am pretty sure I will have another rough night tomorrow but dealing with a little over an hour is not too bad… So far. Who knows how he is going to react next 2 hours… I hope he will sleep until at least 2 am or so.

I need to get some sleep! Good night. I’m sorry I rocked you a little hard tonight, Luca (but it helped you to fall in sleep for a min or two).

Love you very much, your mama

Sleeping habit #2

Luca: 23 weeks old

Tonight is same thing as last night. Luca cried a lot. Although he slept through for 2.5 hours from 730pm. This is not too bad.

I changed a little bit of routine.

As I came back home from work, I took him out for a walk for about 20 min. Not too short, not too long. I didn’t want him to fall in sleep before his bed time. I fed him solid food: tofu but no Popsicle. I bathed him a bit, but no shampoo on his head or wiping his face. After putting clean diaper and pj on, I read a couple books which I usually do before the bath time but I switched it to after. After the reading, I finally fed him. He had about 6-7 oz of milk which is a lot more than usual. So I hope this new routine relaxed him a bit.

Now, it’s 1130pm. After a lot of crying for an hour, he finally fell in sleep. It has been about 30 min now. I am hoping he will sleep until 2am or longer. That would be a record if he can sleep till then. I hate to say it and I hate doing this to him but I guess letting him crying makes him tired more. I don’t want him to cry. I am not the type of mom that she doesn’t care about her own child. I do care. But crying works… Cry all you want Luca. I’m here for you. Good night 😘

Much Love, your mama

Sleeping habit

Luca: 23 weeks old

I feel I’m a failure when it comes to his sleeping habit. I want him to sleep throughout a night without feeding him before he goes to bed. That is my ultimate goal. But last night, something was off . He cried every 2 hours and demanded me to hold him.

Usually, he mumbles but he doesn’t cry much. After holding him for a while, he falls into sleep. After midnight, he wants to drink a couple of times so I feed him. But that’s about it. Last night though, it was rough. A lot of crying. Why? I don’t know. It wasn’t a wet or dirty diaper for sure. Because I checked and even changed it just to make myself feel better. Maybe because of Breaskmilk Popsicle that I gave him. Maybe he had a stomach ache… So I gave the gripe water (he liked to drink it). I am not sure it worked but after 30 min or so he fell in sleep.

I didn’t want to give in to let him sleep with me. So I hang on and tried my best to wake myself up and take care of Luca. But at 6am (I had one more hour that I wanted to sleep), I gave in. Too tired. And Luca was so peaceful and sleep in till I woke up. Ohhh poop… πŸ˜•

Solid Food: Day 5

Luca: 21 weeks old

It has been 5 days since we started to introduce solid food: rice porridge (10倍η²₯).

Of course I didn’t expect Luca to be good at swallowing it or even put it in his mouth from the beginning but I started to see his interest towards to food, and getting better at putting the spoon in his mouth. I know it will take a little while until he gets used to it but it is so much fun to see his expression on his face. Like “Mmm! Give me more!” Because he stretches his arms and tries to grab the bowl and spoon.

I have to continue giving rice for another week and then I think we can move on to another food. I can’t wait to give him avocado, sweet potatoes, carrots etc!

Luca’s motivation for crawling…

Baby gives a smile at Julia Roberts. Vanity Fair magazine
Luca knows when and who to smile!
Luca: 21 weeks old

He started “trying” to crawl and his motivation is … Julia Roberts.

Frankie gave me a magazine that he found at the lobby: Vanity Fair. I was interested to read because of Riahana. I don’t prefer to listen to her songs. I’ve never interested to listen to it (although I have to admit there are a couple songs that are so catchy and I don’t mind listening to them.) But I was interested to her life style and her mind. I found it interesting that she is just like us. She got funny sense of humor, she worries about her future love etc.

After I finished reading the article and flipped the magazine, I found Julia Roberts was smiling in the back of the magazine. I showed that to Luca and he started to smile at her. I just discovered Luca knows who to smile. He knows what smile is. Smart boy! πŸ˜‚

As I discovered that, I just thought what if I put that in front of him. What would he do? The moment I captured in the photo answered my question. It did motivated him to get closer: crawling!! He didn’t crawl much because he didn’t know how yet. But definitely I saw he moved a couple inches. I was so excited to witness another milestone!!

First solid food

Luca tried his first solid food!!
Luca: 20 weeks old (reached 5 months old last Sunday!)

Luca finally has tried his first solid food: rice porridge. Cooked with 2 teaspoon of rice and 20 teaspoons of water in the rice cooker. And after its done cooking, I purΓ©ed it.

He sat on my lap and I fed him with a tiny baby spoon. I couldn’t see his face expression but from his hands gesture (he wanted more), he seemed to like it. I am not sure he swallowed it but I’ll continue trying to feed him once a day for 2 weeks.

From tomorrow, he will sit in his high chair and eat! He is growing and growing… Somebody stops him from growing!! 😩😊

Your favorite book

Luca: 19 weeks old

Your favorite book seems to be Thomas and Friends. I’ve been reading “Thomas and Giraffe” over and over almost every night before you go to bed (I should read different book but it seems like this book excites you more than any other book!). I see your eyes wide open when I show this book to you. I get excited too that you like this!!

Your Gmama has a friend who works for a company which publishes children books in Japan. She offered she would send some books if I’d see anything. I still have to take a look what they have and order them but I can’t wait to get them.

I will put updates about books later on.

Love you, your mama
